1- the Seige of Taureheren
The sun rose over the elven city of Taureheren. The flags on the great, white walls, were fluttering in cool morning breeze. The sun was shining brightly and there were no clouds, but the atmosphere wasn’t one of peace. The atmosphere within the walls of the elven city was chaotic. Women and children were running through the streets of the great city. Warriors, aswell were running about. Outside the high walls of the city were 3000 men, beasts and siege weaponry. The enemy was all clad in black and on their breastplates was a crudley painted white raven. The simbol of Dulathil, enemy of the Lempe Taures and all good elves.
The city was prepared for battle. The glint of metal shone on the walls. All available soldiers were standing on the high stone walls protecting the city. Some held swords, others held bows. They were clad in green cloaks and wore silver spangenhelms with a nasals and cheek flaps on their heads. To the ones who had none of there own, bows had been given. They had also been given short swords which were held in green sheaths.
The Royal Elven Guard of Taureheren were also ready for battle, clothed in white with silver argeian helmets. They had their bows at the ready and were marching in rows through the stone streets of the city. They were about 500 strong. They marched as one towards the Citadel in the center of the city.
The elves on the wall were under command from Maethorion, captain of the armies of Taureheren, a tall, stern, light haired elf, who was pacing back and force across the wall. "Dartho!" yelled Maethorion, still pacing, "Hold!"
Three elves were standing apart from everyone else. They were Elensar son of Feredir, Mahtan son of Hambriston the tailor, and Eruánion son of Beren a member of the High Elf Council of Taureheren. Elensar and Eruanion were tall with fair skin and long golden hair that was blowing in the wind from under his helmet. Mahtan was slightly shorter with darker skin and hair, for he was a dark elf. Although he was a dark elf, he was still good. The eldest, Elensar stood in the middle, bow raised ready to fire. Eruánion followed his lead. Although he preferred using his two scimitars, Mahtan as well had his bow ready. They were best friends who had grown up together. Now they would die together. Like all of the archers, they were nervous but their duty was to fight till death for their city. The captain, Daermaethor paced up and down the wall. There was a long period of silence as both sides waited for a move from the other. The silence was broken by an enemy horn. With a loud battle cry, the enemy charged.
"Leithio i philinn " instructed the captain, "Fires the arrows!"
The elves raised their bows in unison and fired. A section of the attacker’s army fell. They charged again this time with tall, wooden ladders which they hooked onto the wall.
"Pendraith!" commanded Maethorion, as the elves unsheathed their swords and cut down the ladders. But some still remained and men with halberds were soon on the wall. The elves were unprepared and the enemy gained ground on the wall.
"Tangado haid! Leitho i philinn!"ordered the captain.
Mahtan put his bow on his back and unsheathed his two scimitars. He charged at the enemy who were now 200 strong on the wall. The archers will still shooting down men on the ground. He ran at 5 men and after a few struggles felled them. He then rejoined his friends. Just then a messenger ran towards their captain and informed him that the west wall had fallen.
"Berioen ramb!" yelled the captain as the elves charged towards a hole West Wall. They see that through the hole black men were pouring through.
"Thangail! Leitho i philinn!" yelled the captain as the elves fired. A group of men leading the charge fell. With a shout the men behind them ran over their fallen and charged through the hole. The elves fired once more and more men fell. Just then there was a loud rumbling and part of the South Wall fell. Three elephants had broken through the wall with the help of battering rams. The enemies shouted again and charged at the elves. The elves standing just inside the wall could only hold them for so long. Eventually the defenders fell and a new wave of men charged through. An elephant who had destroyed a section of the elven army suddenly fell, taking out a section of the Dulathilian army. The elves, encouraged by this, fired again at the enemies. The volley hit them but this only temporarily held them.
"Head for the Citadel" yelled Maethorion motioning to a section of elves. The elves, along with Elensar, Eruanion and Mahtan ran for the Citadel. They ran through the tall doors of the citadel and charged up a flight of stone stairs. They continued up to a balcony on the top of the building.
"Leithio i philinn" commanded Maethorion and they fired at the enemy. The elves fired.
The south-west wall was in flames, destroyed by the enemy.
